Why the village exists

Play, and stand with a shelter

Mutt N Moxie is entertainment that opens the door to the pet world. The fun is real. So is the shelter on the other side of it.

The mission

A village with a kennel outside it

People come for a game. A piñata in the grass, a trail with no finish, a cat on a tower, a town with nothing to prove, a bowl of treats that clears in threes.

That play is how someone meets dogs and cats who are not a picture on a poster. It is also how we want to raise awareness of the shelters doing the unglamorous work: intake, fostering, and finding those animals a home.

The mission is to keep the games genuinely fun, and to turn the time and money spent in them into practical support for real shelters.

In the game

You choose the shelter

Coming in, you pick a shelter. The Supporter plan and the shop both name that place, so a share of what you spend is for them and not for a vague “animal cause.”

$5 a month

Twenty percent of that five dollars is for the shelter you chose. The shop splits the same way.

How the money is meant to help

This is the promise already written into the game, in the plan step and again at the shop counter.

The Supporter plan

$5 a month

Twenty percent of every $5 goes to the shelter you picked. A supporter also plays with every game open, without ads, and with a badge in the lobby.

Purchases in the shop

20% of the till

Bandanas, treats, hammocks, the lot. Twenty percent of everything spent in the shop is for that same shelter, so the store funds the community too.

Play for free

Nothing locked

Every game is playable without the plan. On the free path, helping looks like telling people what the shelters near them are up against.

The vision

Fun that introduces the pet world

We want a person to open the lobby because the games are worth playing, and to leave knowing dogs and cats a little better. How they learn. What they need. What it is like to share a house, a yard, or a windowsill with one.

Awareness comes with that. A shelter stops being an idea and becomes a place with a name, near the player, full of animals who are waiting on the same patience the games ask for.

The funds follow the awareness. A share of the monthly plan, and a share of what people choose to buy, should be support a shelter can actually use: food, medical care, and another day of keeping the doors open.

What we are building toward

The road ahead

  • Keep the games fun enough that people come back for the play, not out of guilt.
  • Grow the pet world in the lobby, so more of a dog’s life and a cat’s life can be met by playing it.
  • Keep the shelter list current, drawn from real organizations, so the name on the plan is a place that can receive help.
  • Carry the 20% the rest of the way, from the plan and the shop to the shelter the player chose.
  • Leave every game open on the free path, and make spreading the word a real way to help.

The rule is already in the village. Getting that share into a shelter’s hands is the work in front of us.

Come in either way

Play the games. If you take the Supporter plan, you are standing with the shelter you named. If you play free, you can still pass along what those shelters are facing.
